Varanasi is a major religious City in Buddhism and Hinduism. It is believed to be founded by Lord Shiva 5000 years ago according to a legend. Varanasi is also known as Kashi & it is situated at the bank of river Ganges famous for its Ghats. It is one of the Sacred Holiest City in Hinduism & Jainism which also played an important role in the Development of Buddhism religion. As per the Legend this City was founded by Shiva. One of the three principle deities along with Brahma and Vishnu. During a fight between Brahma and Shiva, One of Brahma's five heads was torn off by Shiva. As the custom, The Victor carried the slain adversary's head in his hand & let it hang down from his hand as an act of bravery and ignominy. A bridle was also put into the mouth of Brahma. Thus Shiva dishonored Brahma's head and kept his head with him all the time. Upon arrival at Varanasi the hanging head of Brahma dropped away from Shiva's hand and disappeared in the ground. Therefore the City is considered as an extremely holy site in India for Hindus. Hindus believe that death in Varanasi will bring Salvation to them.
